Let us go back once more to the battlefield of Gettysburg. However, this photo was taken on the 50th anniversary of the battle in 1913. After participating in one of the most ferocious fightings in the country’s history, Union and Confederate soldiers showed respect for each other. The veterans take part in a reenactment each year. Picket’s Charge was recreated by Confederate veterans, while Union veterans surrendered to them. This was a gesture that was well-received because it paid tribute to these brave men.
