Check out this historical photo taken during King Edward VII’s funeral! In the middle is King George V, while Kaiser Wilhelm II is fourth from the left. This was the last time the two of them had a peaceful meeting. As tensions were flaring in Europe at the time, there was already trouble simmering. Assassinations led to various monarchs’ deaths, but the real catalyst of the Great War was the assassination in Sarajevo in 1914 of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
