Easy Company Can Finally Relax
Easy Company, which was featured in HBO’s Band of Brothers, received this order after they took Eagle’s Nest: “Stand fast.” This decorated combat unit wound up in Hitler’s house in the Alps during the last days of the war. Major Dick Winters is the guy right of center. He led the 101st Airborne company through some of the war’s most hard-fought battles. He was a great leader who, more than once, brought his men to safety.
