Diandra Luker and Michae Douglas first met when Diandra Luker attended Georgetown University and landed a job as a White House intern. Michael Douglas was in the area because he was promoting the film One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. The two of them had a conversation and were together for two days. The proposal for Marriage happened two weeks after. The duo decided to get married in March 1977 and had a son, Cameron Douglas, a year later. Michael and Diandra lived in Los Angeles, but they eventually moved to New York City. The career of Michael as an actor started to take off, and Diandra believed that L.A.’s environmentL.A. was not ideal for raising their son. Diandra used her fame to organize charity works for the Red Cross. She also produced documentaries for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Office of Film and Television. As for Michael, he made an appearance in Fatal Attraction, Romancing the Stone, The War of the Roses, and Wall Street. However, the two of them were not able to avoid some ruptures in their Marriage. Soon, everything came crashing down. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Diandra Luker said, “For years, I’ve never said a word to anyone. I don’t feel that two wrongs make a right. I’m not into mudslinging, and I refuse to lower myself even to tell you the tip of the iceberg.” As for Michael Douglas, he was interviewed by Metro, where he said, “I know I’m going to get into trouble here. I have nothing against her, and in fact, I’m very fond of my first wife. But we should have ended that marriage eight or ten years earlier. It took me too long to realize that if you go to a marriage counselor to resolve problems, it’s in his interest to keep the marriage going. Because if I end the marriage, he’s got no business. I think Diandra would probably say the same thing. That’s the only clear regret that I have.” Michael Douglas and Diandra Luker were separated in 1995, but their divorce was only finalized after five years. Diandra Luker was able to get a settlement of $45 million and some properties and alimony.
