Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes married after less than two years of dating in the presence of three of their friends. It was in May 2003 at the Caribbean Island of Anguilla. Kate Winslet was already pregnant with their son, Joe, who was born in December of that year. Kate Winslet confessed, “We hadn’t been planning to do it. But we thought it was rather a good idea, so we just did it.” The two shared the same opinion that it was essential to raise their kids by letting them have a normal childhood. In Kate Winslet’s interview with The Guardian, she revealed, “As a family, we do normal things that other families would. It’s important to us that the children are just regular kids, so we go to the park, kick a ball around, go to a museum, watch a movie together or just hang out at home playing Monopoly.” And yet, it was not enough to glue their Marriage together. Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes made an official announcement of their split last 2010. Keith Schilling, the legal counsel of the couple, made a statement that said, “Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year. The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement. Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children.” It was fortunate that the two of them were committed to co-parenting Joe, and yet, it was still sad that there were circumstances that made them end their Marriage.
