There was a new couple in Hungary who were shocked upon their discovery of a few confidential Nazi documents that were hidden in their walls. The couple found more than 6,000 Nazi documents from the Third Reich as they renovated their house. These documents contained details about the holocaust especially the census to count Jews and designate homes which they could transfer to before they were finally moved to the ghettos in Budapest. Scholars considered this discovery as a treasure because of the value of these rare documents. Most of these documents were destroyed by the Nazis to avoid revealing these to the hands of their enemies. Apparently, the previous owner of the house decided that it would be best to hide them instead of destroying the papers. The census was taken just two months before Hungary was occupied by the Nazis. The official number of Hungarian Jews that were killed in the holocaust was 600,000.
