Ambergris
Ambergris is a substance that was highly sought after for many centuries. Its most noticeable trait is its odorous smell, which Steven described it as ‘a combination of dried squid and some farmyard manure’, which then actually becomes sweet as time passes. For hundreds of years, this smelly-turned-sweet substance has been used to create a variety of perfumes, and even believed by some historians as something safe enough to be eaten!
