Decades already passed after the incident happened, that was why Bobby already felt safe and had the courage to go back to his hometown, North Carolina. One of his siblings passed away that attending his funeral was his only motive of coming back. He really believed that visiting North Carolina was the one who got him in trouble again. Maybe the cops had a report that he was coming home again or they saw his familiar face which got them searching for him again. On the other hand, Cheryl was hurt. She understood that her husband had reasons why he did not tell her about his secret, but the feeling of being lied to, for decades, really hurt her plus the fact that her husband got arrested in their own home and right in front of their kids.
