John Adams was the second person to hold the office of President of the United States, succeeding Thomas Jefferson. From 1797 to 1801, he served as President of the United States. This founding father is mainly renowned for his contributions to the development of the navy during his tenure, a feat that earned him the title “The Father of the American Navy” in the process. He is credited with bringing the struggle between the United States and France to a close. Thomas Jefferson, unfortunately for him, defeated his attempt for reelection following his first term in office. With an IQ of 155, he ranks in the top 25 percent of presidential intelligence, according to the National Intelligence Estimate.
