Millard Fillmore – 149
Millard Fillmore served as the Whig Party’s last president before the party was disbanded in 1832. He was born into a humble household, but he worked hard to educate himself and rise to the position of vice president under the administration of President Zachary Taylor. After the incumbent president died of cholera in 1850, Fillmore was elected as the 13th president of the United States of America. Following Taylor’s death, all of the cabinet members of the White House immediately submitted their resignations, leaving Fillmore to construct a brand new White House from the ground up. However, while his IQ of 149 is on the lower end of the presidential range, it is certainly not a laughing matter. Throughout 1850 and 1853, he made an unsuccessful attempt, through the signature of the 1850 Compromise, to defuse tensions between the North and the South. He also assisted in the establishment of contact with Japan, which was still in the process of isolating itself at the time. During his president, Japan began permitting American ships to dock in the country in the event of a natural disaster or other emergency.
