John Tyler – 148
William Henry Harrison died in office, and his successor, John Tyler, took up his position as 10th President of the United States of America. He was the first president to be succeeded by a successor when a president died while in office. In other words, he was the first president who had not been elected, and he served as the nation’s leader from 1841 to 1845, during the American Civil War. Tyler delegated authority over slavery and a number of other issues to the states, as he did with other issues. As a result of his submissive attitude in Congress, he amassed a large number of adversaries, earning him the nickname “His Accidency.” John Tyler possessed a high level of intelligence, as evidenced by his IQ of 148. Consider how long ago he served as president, and how astounding that is to contemplate. Additionally, the first attempted impeachment took place during his tenure, but the attempt did not succeed. When it comes to foreign affairs, he has negotiated treaties with China and the United Kingdom, among others.
