DiPietro shared with the authorities that he had let his daughter sleep on the bed on the night she had disappeared. On the next day that the father woke up and checked Ayla on her bed, he could not believe that his child had disappeared. According to the officers, there were several adults in DiPietro’s home when Ayla was gone missing. One of them was not a relative of their family. Ayla’s mother, called Trista Reynolds,  was undergoing rehabilitation because of substance abuse.
