Patina
German-born, French-trained chef Joachim Splichal first opened Patina in Hollywood in 1989, later relocating it to the Frank Gehry-designed Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles in 2003. Over the years, Patina grew into a culinary empire, spawning more than 50 restaurants across five states and Japan. Although Splichal no longer owns the Patina Restaurant Group, the original Patina remained his flagship. While no formal announcement of its closure has been made, employees recently received termination letters, effective August 15, and the restaurant has quietly disappeared from the group’s website.
