As a matter of fact, many wrestlers over the past few decades have embraced the name ‘The Sheik’. But if we must know, it was actually this affluent Syrian wrestler that laid the foundation. He was so famous for how he gripped his contenders in submission even after the referee counted down. On many occasions, he used the ropes to get leverage, which is a tactic used by many wrestlers today.
