In 1982, Mickey Rourke made his comedy debut in the film Diner. Though it didn’t entirely break new ground, his acting ability and ability to discuss the controversial subject matter in his positions propelled him to stardom in 1986’s 912Weeks and 1987’s Angel Core. Though mild by today’s standards, these films cemented his status as a sex icon alongside co-stars Kim Basinger and Lisa Bonet. On the other hand, Rourke realized that he’d had enough of acting and turned to box in 1991. When he was younger, he had practiced as a fighter.
