Priceless Artwork
An Italian stateman hired Leonarda da Vinci all the way back to 1502. He commissioned the artist to paint a scene from the Battle of Anghiari. Giorgio Vasari was appointed to paint over the mural during the 1550s, but he couldn’t bring himself to destroy such a nice piece of artwork. It was speculated that Giorgio built a false wall over the painting in order to preserve the mural.
