Worst: The New Kids on the Block, 1991
This was a halftime show meant to show support for American troops, but people did not get it. The performance featured small kids and Disney characters on the stage as they moved to “It’s A Small World,” as well as “Step by Step” by the New Kids on the Block. That was the first time a contemporary act played at the Super Bowl halftime. Aside from that, Whitney Houston also gave her iconic rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” that year. It has since turned into a hit and even went platinum. That was the most iconic part of the halftime show. This was not even aired on live TV as networks only played a compressed version of it after the game. There were times when they did not broadcast it at all.
