Best: Left Shark, 2015
All right, this one is a little different from the rest, but bear with us! Left Shark was an overnight internet sensation after he appeared at the halftime show at the 2015 Super Bowl. When Katy Perry gave us her Vegas-themed set, she danced beside palm trees and Left Shark. There was more than one shark with her at the time, but Left Shark was the star. Hamish Hamilton, the director of the halftime show, shared this with EW: “I don’t think anybody on the team had any idea that Left Shark was going to become such a cultural phenomenon. We were trying to work out how we could bring a beach scene to life.”
