He was the last president of the United States during the Civil War, and he also helped the United States win the Spanish-American War. During his presidency, the United States saw significant changes, with Guam, the Philippines, and Puerto Rico all becoming territories. He was also well-liked for his attempts to strengthen the economy, albeit he did not do much to ensure that all Americans were treated equally.
