Joan Trumpauer Mulholland, who left her family, education, and life to join the protests, was a young freedom fighter. Before it was accepted in the United States, she challenged societal standards and free speech. She participated in many demonstrations and sit-ins for civil rights and even spent time in prison and death row! What an inspirational young woman.
