If you have billions of dollars in your checking account, you will probably consider buying your own island. This was what happened with Paul Allen, who co-founded Microsoft. In the early ‘90s, he bought an island for $13.5 million. However, he eventually reached the decision to sell it after he found an even better one. Two decades after the initial purchase, he let go of this property by selling it for $8 million.
