It Came From Outside
He tried to hold his breath to listen to the noise better. When he heard the sound again, he figured out that it was coming from outside. The noise was dull and muted, similar to the sound that gravel on metal makes. He was intrigued, so he got up and checked out the garden from his window. To his confusion, he did not see anything out there. Everything fell silent again, so he returned to bed.
