Digging Holes
When your dog digs up the grass, it does not mean they have evil intentions. They are instinctive because it is embedded in their genes. This applies specifically to terrier types of dogs. Almost always, they delve deeper into the yard to put bones, toys, and other items of value. They also may look for their prey or bury their dead.
