In 1984, the original movie held the top spot at the box office for seven weeks straight. Sadly, the 2016 reboot failed to live up to the expectations that we had of it. It had a huge marketing budget, so they needed $300 million to recoup that amount. Sadly, the movie fell short and cost the studio $75 million.
