Ava Gardner was brought up in South Carolina. When she was brought up there, she developed a strong accent that eventually led MGM to think that she was nonsensical. Nonetheless, she still took advantage of the opportunity. Her first real hit came when she was featured in the noir movie The Killers. So then, opportunities became frequent and she became particularly well known.

In that movie, she played the role of Princess Isabelle. She also became known for her other movies such as Poldark and The White Queen.
