Acquiring The Throne
Between 1949 and 1964, the couple had four children: Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward. During this time, Elizabeth took immediate succession to the throne after her father’s death, King George VI, in 1952, when she was just 26 years old. As a result, Queen Elizabeth is the longest-reigning and surviving British queen in history, at 90 years old.
