Normal Marriages
Contrary to popular assumption, arranged marriages do not exist among the Amish. The traditional courtship and dating traditions are used to produce the majority of Amish marriages. When it comes to picking a wedding partner, there are no arranged weddings with parents or other mediators. Young individuals who desire to be baptized into a specific Amish denomination (typically their own) must marry within that religion.
