Being the first (and thus far, only) president to tie the knot in the White House is a significant achievement. Many people, though, were more concerned with who the president was marrying. Despite the fact that she was a 21-year-old woman (28 years his younger), she made an impression on him. Aside from the fact that she was extremely attractive, fluent in French, and rather personable, she was also well-liked by her peers.
